Diesel powered APUs sustain driver comfort, but are loud and have a considerable amount of maintenance. In 2013, we tested an Idle Free unit for quality and performance. Our driver’s response was very good, taking particular note how quiet the unit was and the length of time the APU kept the truck at his desired temperature. Battery life on Idle Free’s APUs has been better than we expected, maintenance cost has been relatively low in terms of parts and labor and tech support response is fast and extremely helpful.
